Discribe is a simple CD-R burning utility. Because it is simple, it is somewhat limited. If you own and successfully use Toast, you dont need Discribe; ignore this review.
Discribe supports both CD-R and CD-RW writing. It writes straight data CDs as well as audio CDs. Support for most SCSI, FireWire, and USB CD burners is built into the program, though if your CD burner isnt directly supported, CharisMac Engineering does provide a "universal" driver. Discribe supports the most common file formats: HFS (Macintosh), ISO-9660 and ISO-9660A (Windows), and of course audio. Most of these options are invisible to the user, or are clearly marked one-button clicks.
If you are a beginner at burning CDs, or if you dont own or dont use Toast, this program is a good starter for you. It is easy to use and simple to run.
I could go into the details of running the program, but a few minutes perusing the on-line instruction manual will do much more than that. I believe it suffices to say that this is a good product that accomplishes what can be a complex task but in a very easy fashion.
