The Mountain View Computer Users Group is a multi-platform computer users group serving the community interest of Sierra Vista, AZ, and the surrounding Cochise County area. With a little over 200 members, we are one of the largest User Groups in the South Eastern Arizona region. The MVCUG is composed of about 50% Macintosh and 50% DOW (DOS, OS/2, and Windows) users.

Membership
Membership in the Mountain View Computer Users Group is open to anyone of any age who has an interest of some kind in computers. If you want to learn how to use a computer, if you want to send electronic mail messages to your friends and family, or if you are trying to determine if you really want one of these things, we are the right place for you! If you are technical, inexperienced, a guru, a novice, again, we are the group you should join! Membership is not determined by a geographical location, though we are resident in and support Cochice County in South Eastern Arizona. If you are already a member, pass the word to your friends and family: We are here for you. We are open to all! Until we get the forms online, please contact the President for membership information. Annual dues are still only $20.00. What a deal - less than 6¢ a day!
What are the benefits of membership in the MVCUG? Besides knowing that you are not alone with your questions, we have an annual auction of hardware and software donated by various sponsors such as Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, Broderbund, and many other vendors. By way of the auction, members have taken home the latest products from these vendors at significant savings. To bid in the auction, you must be a paid-up member, and if you win the bidding contest, you must give us a review of the product. We have more information about our reviews here. In addition, we give our members technical support that is the best in the market - we know you, and frequently, we come to see what is bothering you rather than using a checklist over the telephone.
Meetings
The MVCUG normally holds its General Meeting on the 2nd Saturday of each month (except August when there is no meeting). However due to circumstances, on occasion we have to meet on the third Saturday. Please check this web site the day before a meeting to see if there has been change. We normally meet in Room 313 at Cochise Community College,Sierra Vista Campus from 10AM until 12:00 PM, but this is also subject to change. We will post the meeting location on the web site and the discussion list, so check before you leave. On the day of the meeting, we also post a flyer with the location of the meeting on the door of room 313
We welcome guests and visitors. Please feel free to come to one of our meetings if you are in the area. To contact the group, do not contact the College, but contact:

The general meeting are tutorial in nature and include product demonstrations, "how-to" demonstrations, and question-and-answer sessions. Before each general meeting, there is a short socializing session with ample coffee, bagels, and doughnuts for the members.
Besides the general meeting, the MVCUG has a number of Special Interest Groups that meet regularly. We have more information about our meetings here.
The President has made arrangements to teach Digital Imaging classes in conjunction with our Digital Imaging SIG meeting. Check out the information we've got here.
Officers
The MVCUG has a full slate of group officers who are nominated each July, with the elections taking place in the September meeting after the August hiatus. Any current member is eligible to be nominated and elected to any of the open positions.
We have more information about our officers here.
Achievements
The MVCUG is noted for having won the grand prize for Computer Literacy Month three years in a row (after which they retired the category and we became judges).
Community Support
The MVCUG supports our community, which is actually all of Cochise County, by a number of different paths. First, we are always available to present briefings on computer-related topics to community, civic, educational, or governmental agencies. Second, we present two seniors who attend one of Cochise County's High Schools and who is moving on to attend college or university with a $500.00 scholarship each. For 2002, we have some very good applicants - if you were a senior in one of the Cochise County High Schools in the 2001-2001 academic year, why didn't you apply?
